Huron-Clinton Metroparks Equipment Maintenance Worker/Specialist - Lower Huron Metropark in Belleville, Michigan

BARGAINING UNIT / LEVEL: Non-Supervisory Level 04/06
SALARY RANGE: $46,030 - $61,526 annually DOQ
GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES: Under the supervision of the District Park Maintenance Manager, work activities in the position primarily involve the complete maintenance, repair and overhaul of automotive and heavy equipment.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS ? Equipment Maintenance Worker ? Level 04
Associate Degree in automotive and/or heavy equipment service or related field. Applicants with 4 or more years of related service will be given credit toward meeting the minimum educational requirements and will be considered for the position.
Five years hands-on experience in related field for Worker/level 4 (Equivalence: Four related courses may be substituted for one year of experience up to a maximum of three years of experience.)
State mechanic certifications in electrical systems, brakes and braking systems, engine tune-up/performance desired. Master?s certification preferred.
Master?s mechanic certification in automotive and/or heavy duty truck will credit two years of experience.
Knowledge of the occupational hazards and safety precautions of the trade.
Ability to Provide own hand tools (wrenches, screwdrivers, sockets, etc.) and mechanic?s small tools.
Ability to understand equipment operation instructions and shop manuals.
Ability to prepare and maintain accurate records and reports of work performed.
Ability to use hand tools and manually controlled power tools requiring manual dexterity and eye-hand coordination.
Ability to stand, stoop and bend for extended periods and move objects weighing up to 50 lbs.
Must maintain a valid Michigan driver's license and an acceptable driving record.
Possession of a Michigan Commercial Driver License (CDL?A w/Air) or ability to obtain within 1 year of employment. (Current Equipment Maintenance Worker/Specialist employee transferring within their district may not be required to obtain a CDL).
May be required to obtain other certifications as required by Management.
May be required to adjust schedule to meet organizational needs, including special events, evenings, weekends & holidays.
Ability to perform essential duties.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS ? Equipment Maintenance Specialist ? Level 06
Meets all the minimum qualifications of the Equipment Maintenance Worker ? Level 04.
Ten years-experience for Specialist/level 6.
Knowledge of internal combustion engines.
Knowledge of the methods, materials, tools and standard practices of the automotive and heavy equipment mechanic trade.
Ability to apply shop mathematics to practical problems.
Ability to operate push or power driver mowers, trucks, tractors and heavy equipment.
