GNS Welding Operator - 2nd Shift - Afternoons in Canton, Michigan
Position Summary: Weld metal components and parts together. Set up and operate welding machines that join or bond together components to fabricate metal products or assemblies, according to specifications and blueprints. Work is performed with minimum supervision according to definite work objectives set by supervisor. Essential Responsibilities: liPerform welding operations following general instructions and according to established shop practices./li liFeed work piece into welding machine to join or bond components./li liObserve and listen to welding machine and its gauges to ensure welding process meets specifications./li liTurn and press controls, such as cranks, knobs, and buttons to adjust and activate welding process./li liLay out, fits, or tack work pieces together, using hand tools./li liStops and opens holding device on welding machine, using hand tools./li liExamine metal product or assemblies to ensure specifications are met./li liPositions and adjusts fixtures, attachments, or work pieces on machine, using hand tools./li liCorrectly handles scrap during and after production./li liKeeps work area clean and well organized in a 5S manner./li liWear all personal protective equipment as required./li liUses computers for data entry in a specified and appropriate manner./li liMay assist in the training of other employees as indicated./li /ul Physical Demands: The position is in the factory and involves walking, standing for long periods of time throughout the day. It requires being able to lift up to 40 pounds, push and pull up to 50 pounds. Stooping/bending/twisting is required on regular basis. This job involves repetitive tasks and attention to detail. Fast-paced environment, usually work standard 40-hour weeks, but overtime may be necessary as work loadrsquo;s dictate. This may include weekdays, weekends and/or holidays.
