Quality Technician (Early career quality engineer)

Work Location : Detroit, MI

Contract-to-hire: 6 month contract to direct hire

Work Specifications:

  • Responsible for all measurement tasks to assure product quality during the development phase and serial production

  • Responsible to stop processes and escalate in all cases of non-conformities to quality (STOP-AT-DEFECT)

  • Support product audits

  • Tactile measurements with 6 axes measurement arm

  • Optical measurements with GOM optical device

  • Set up and analyze reports of optical/tactile measurements

  • Measurements against GD&T and RPS

  • Support sampling process

  • Support first part inspection in serial production

  • Improve measurement processes

  • Support customer initial sampling process

  • Support Prototyping shop regarding measurement tasks


  • Technical apprenticeship with advanced training to governmental certified technician is needed

  • Minimum of 2 years work experience in plastic and automotive supplier industry is required

  • Knowledge in GD&T and RPS alignment and drawing is needed

  • Basic knowledge in CAD

  • Knowledge in customer specific quality requirements

  • Knowledge of product and measuring test equipment and techniques

  • Knowledge of KAUTEX manufacturing processes

  • Able to perform a Measurement System Analysis (MSA)

  • Green Belt certification is a plus

  • Strong local and English language skills are required

Order Notes:

This will be a 6 month temp to hire opportunity. Organization is looking for someone that has potential for future growth. They are okay with looking for a young quality engineer or a Quality Tech capable of growing into a Quality Engineer. Company is a Tier 1 supplier of blow molded gas tanks to the OEMs. Blow molding done on site and also some value-added assembly. Looking for past experiences in plastics. Role with spend more time working with the manufacturing of blow molded tanks / less time on assembly.

Shift Schedule: 1st

Lunch Time: 30 Minutes
