VASCOR Group Leader, Yard Management (2nd shift) in Detroit, Michigan

Group Leader reports directly to the designated Yard Manager.
Accountabilities include: Service development; coordination with Yard Manager and Yard Leaders to ensure service commitment and realization. Group Leader will also have responsibility for Work Quality Standards, Loss and Damage Prevention, Claims, Document Control, Safety and handle personnel matters.
The Group Leader presents damage prevention or process changes as required. They will attend customer meetings, phone conferences, understand customer requirements and meet or exceed their expectations. Group Leader will generate alternatives and make recommendations on improving area work process. This position will fill in for the Yard Manager as necessary and ensure all processes are documented and update as necessary.
Responsibilities to include but not limited to:
Building and dispatching loads for transportation carriers
Creating and filing damage claims
Vehicle tracking, management of production vehicle builds
Inspection and arrival of inbound vehicles.
Managing a staff of 25 employees. Very fast paced environment.
Essential Skills and Experience
- 4 year college degree or 4 years' management experience.
Demonstrated “expert” level usage of MS office products including Excel, Access, and Power Point.
Understanding and experience with Total Quality management.
Teamwork, decision-making, problem solving, communications, customer focus, confidentiality, planning, organizing, process management, tolerance of ambiguity, and time management.
Must be able to meet the physical requirements of the job.
- Successful Leader or equivalent experience in a prior position.
