RGIS Product Repair Associate I in Detroit, Michigan


Position Overview:

The Product Repair Associate I is responsible for repairing and testing desktop, laptop, handheld computers, laser scanners, and other equipment used throughout RGIS.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Repairs and tests handheld computers, scanners, and other RGIS equipment

  • Uses various cleaners and solvents to clean equipment

  • Uses various epoxies, glues, and thread-locker during the repair process

  • Installs and configures software

  • Uses diagnostic tools and software to troubleshoot problems

  • Assembles and prepares new equipment

  • Fabricates parts using plastic resins and/or metal hardware

  • Assists with shipping and receiving

  • Demonstrates the RGIS core values of Integrity, Excellence, Respect, Teamwork, and Innovation


Required Qualifications & Skills:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent

  • The ability to effectively troubleshoot and repair electronic hardware

  • Skilled in the assembly and disassembly of small devices

  • Familiar with the safe and proper use of chemicals, cleaners, adhesives, and resins

  • Ability to work independently and part of a team

  • Ability to handle shifting priorities

Preferred Qualifications & Skills:

  • Experience repairing hardware or providing technical assistance

  • A Certification

Working Conditions:

Must be able to carry or move equipment, fixtures, and supplies up to 50 lbs. Must be able to sit for prolonged periods and use a computer, keyboard, and mouse, frequently. Must be able to frequently bend, twist, reach, and stoop. Must be able to extend arms and reach and/or lift over head. Must be able to frequently use repetitive motions requiring use of wrists, hands, and fingers. Must practice proper safety precautions during the use of chemicals and solvents. Travel via plane and automobile may be required periodically, including overnight stays.
