Allied Reliability Group Outage Planner - Ironmaking in Ecorse, Michigan

Maintains key process measures and reports on performance, including, at a minimum:

Total Backlog

Ready Backlog

Schedule Compliance

PM Compliance

Condition Monitoring/PdM Compliance

Notifies management team of shortcomings

Resource Utilization

Proactive to Reactive Ratio

Planned to Unplanned Ratio

Drives the scheduling process for all planned work

Coordinates priority setting with the management team, ensuring input of operations personnel in setting priorities.

Acts as liaison among production scheduling, operations, maintenance, engineering planning, and contractors related to development of the weekly maintenance work schedule.

Owns the scheduling meetings; ensures specific agenda is followed and mandatory attendees participate in scheduling meeting.

Acknowledges priorities when developing the weekly and outage maintenance schedules

Develops weekly maintenance schedule based on outcomes from the weekly scheduling meeting

Ensures the highest possible resource utilization in developing the weekly work schedule

Develops and publishes the weekly work schedule

Ensures that work orders are printed and delivered to skilled trades/supervision in conjunction with the weekly work schedule

Drives shutdown/outage planning and schedule

Coordinates the development of, and ensures compliance with shutdown/outage process that includes cutoff dates for key process deliverables included in the following phases:



Readiness Check


Review and Improvement

Publishes and communicates the shutdown/outage schedule

Oversees and ensures proper communication of expectations to contractor and other outside resources involved in the execution of the shutdown/outage If designated Outage Manager

Oversees communications throughout the day during the execution of the outage

Ensures compliance with the work order process by outside resources during the performance of the shutdown/outage

Drives continuous improvement

Continually strives to increase conditions that support wrench time of the skilled trades personnel

Looks for sources of waste in the maintenance process that can be addressed through improvements to the work execution management process

Develops annual improvement plan for process and drives improvements

Participates with Reliability group on implrovement projects, particularly when they are related to the proactive maintenance plan (CBM and PM)

Committed to safety and teamwork

Self-directed and self-motivated; work towards specific goals and objectives with limited daily oversight

Ability to effectively and efficiently:

Learn and apply maintenance best practices

Organize and plan tasks

Communicate clearly and effectively with skilled trades personnel, vendors, OEM suppliers, management

Perform some level of cost analysis, and work within a structured budget

Develop and deliver clear and concise presentations

Computer skills:


Spreadsheet and Word Processing (Excel, Word)

Project Management Software (MS Project, Primavera, etc.)


Strong mechanical/electrical aptitude

Associates or 2 year technical school degree/certification preferred

Minimum 5 years skilled trades work experience

Supervisory experience

CMMS experience

Or equivalent combination of education and experience
