Orchid Orthopedic Solutions Team Lead, General Labor (1st shift) in Farmington Hills, Michigan

SUMMARY OF POSITIONThe Team Lead assists the Supervisor in the day-to-day operations of the area including coordinating and monitoring the work flow. This position is in a manufacturing facility that prepares and coats orthopedic implants with protective material.


DET - Shift 1a (5A-3:30P) $0 (United States of America - Michigan)


  • Coordinate and monitor work flow through the coating area.
  • Review Production Schedule and estimate worker hour requirements for completion of job assignments.
  • Establish and/or adjust work priorities to meet production schedules.
  • Communicates production goals and job expectations to staff employees, planning and assigning work based on scheduled production requirements.
  • Reads and understands customer specifications based on customer blueprints, Customer Requirement Sheets, and/or other written documentation; seeks clarification when needed. Ensures staff employees meet customer specifications.
  • Maintains work flow by monitoring steps of the process, setting Standard Work expectations, and ensuring employees follow Standard Work.
  • Consult with the Quality Supervisor and/or Production Supervisor regarding policies, procedures, specifications and customer and quality requirements as needed.
  • Recommend and assist in the implementation of measures to improve production methods, worker performance, quality and delivery of product.
  • Maintain documentation and records to comply with Orchid Orthopedics Quality Assurance Manual.
  • Ensure adherence to the Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP's), ISO 13485:2003 and ISO 9001-2000
  • Assist in training of personnel in set-up, use and care of all coating tools and equipment. Assigns trainers and training plans based on job requirements and ensures training plans are fulfilled and trainees are properly trained.
  • Maintain consumable supplies to meet production requirements per the Kanban System.
  • Enforce the 6S policy and overall cleanliness of the facility.
  • Perform all duties and responsibilities of an Operations Technician, Coating
  • Properly utilize personal safety equipment.
  • Ensures defects or errors are immediately highlighted for engineer or manager review.
  • Ensures equipment and tools are maintained in good working order, replacing or requesting repair as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Support quality and compliance by utilizing One Orchid global processes and complying with all Quality Management Systems (QMS) documentation requirements and establishing/supporting plan(s) to meet/exceed Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for Quality that support Safety, Compliance, Six Sigma Quality, On-Time Delivery (OTD) and financial objectives.
  • Ensures defects or errors are immediately highlighted for engineer or manager review.
  • Ensures equipment and tools are maintained in good working order, replacing or requesting repair as needed.



2+ Years of experience in a manufacturing environment (Required), 5+ Years of Experience in a Manufacturing Environment, Experience leading a small group or project team, Experience with FDA and ISO systems relating to medical devices, Lean manufacturing experience


High School Or Equivalent Required, , Associates of Science (A.S), Associates of Arts (A.A)
