Aerotek Lead Production Supervisor in Hazel Park, Michigan
A new plant in Hazel Park is looking for a production supervisor to join their team. This facility was built and opened in 2018/2019. This company is a very large, world-wide company with plenty of advancement opportunity. This company assembles the battery packs for the new line of electric vehicles set to come out over the coming years. GM and other major manufacturers have announced plans to shift towards primarily electric vehicle production, so this company will play a large part in the releases of those vehicles.
Responsible for administering, directing, production activities
Directs and supervises Team Leaders and supervisors to ensure correct, accurate and timely completion of production and delivery schedules
Ensure the employees under supervision are trained on environmental issues such as spill control, proper storage and disposal wastes, chemical emergency
Responsible for enhancing production quantity and high production standards
Develop production schedule for the execution of projects in a timely manner
Train new employees and coach existing employees
Oversees the training and development of Team Members and Team Lead/Supervisors in both the sociological and technological aspects of their responsibilities.
Responsible for providing recognition and positive reinforcement for all Team Members, in a manner to further develop each member of the team.
Work as liaison between workers and management to create healthy employee relations
Investigate and resolve Team Members performance issues assigned to the area
Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) Responsibilities
Show workers how to work safely, and make sure they follow the law and workplace health and safety policies and procedures.
Make sure workers wear and use the right personal protective equipment (PPE).
Ensure that the daily pre-use inspection checklist are completed (e.g. for production machines, cranes, forklifts, genie boom)
Monitor workers on site during production activities to ensure adherence to ethics and safety procedures
Ensure the safety and productivity of all employees assigned to designated shift
Evaluate manufacturing equipment for safety and functionality
Maintain a clean and safe work place
Institutes and maintains safe work practices and capability of directing plant emergencies.
Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) Responsibilities will be a part of Supervisors performance evaluations.
Supervisor must follow the Michigan Occupational Health & Safety Act (MIOHSA,), especially section
Ensure that products and goods manufactured meet quality standards obtainable in the industry
Check finished products to ensure quality, and that industry standards are met before they are declared ready for use
Ensures strict compliance with Quality Control standards and promotes the Company’s reputation and image as a “Quality Producer”.
Work with materials, quality and operations team to reconcile inventory, receiving, delivery, presentation and/or quality discrepancies.
Minimum High School Education
Minimum 5 years of experience in a production environment with evidence of increased responsibility a plus.
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
Experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
Ability to communicate effectively through oral and written communications.
Ability to analyze and solve problems.
Ability to work with others collaboratively.
Strong organizational skills.
Lean manufacturing and continual process improvement experience.
Prefer six sigma certification.
Tier 1 supplier experience strongly preferred
