Kelly Services Maintenance Technician $18-10 Hr/ Possibility to Promote! in Hillsdale, Michigan

Our client, a leader in the chemical industry located in Hillsdale, MI is seeking a Maintenance Technician. This is a long-term position with full benefits and the possibility of advancement to a managerial role!

Shift: 7am – 3pm

Pay: $18-$20 hour

  • Able to work the occasional off-hour and weekend shifts to support plant outages and unplanned events

  • Staff on-call responsibility is a requirement of this role

  • Must have recent industrial/manufacturing maintenance experience being able to troubleshoot and repair equipment.

You will be responsible for troubleshooting and repairing a variety of process and rotating equipment used in industrial processing. The mechanical equipment may include ANSI pumps, blowers, fans, gearboxes, and conveyor belts, hydraulic systems, conveying systems, baghouses, mixers and agitators. This job requires hands-on fieldwork to determine cause of equipment failure, locate spare parts, and install spare parts using repair procedures.


  • Knowledgeable in the maintenance of and the proper installation/replacement of rolling element bearings, mechanical seals, shaft couplings and rotating shaft assemblies, and general rotating equipment of all types.

  • Dismantles, inspects, repairs, and rebuilds mechanical assemblies.

  • Troubleshoots, operates, tests machinery, equipment and assemblies and performs repairs.

  • Oils, lubricates, and installs parts of mobile equipment and other mechanical devices.

  • Perform preventive and predictive maintenance and troubleshooting functions.

  • Required to accept the necessary training and develop the skills to perform mechanical maintenance on all plant mechanical equipment.

  • Procedure use - this includes field use, review, revise, and development of procedures.

  • Ability to work in a safe manner. Safety is a top priority. Every individual is expected to make safety a priority.

  • Ability to prioritize and coordinate multiple tasks with competing priorities

  • Able to meet the physical demands of the job. This position requires physical work, handling equipment, motors, shafts, stair climbing, etc.

  • Shall be self-motivated and willing to work as a team.

  • Obtain a work permit as required.

  • Complete the work and return equipment to operations

  • Assist in the development of Maintenance Work Procedures

Required Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent plus certification or license

  • Minimum 2 years of experience working in the industrial/manufacturing maintenance field

  • Current, valid US driver’s license.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills. Able to communicate well, verbally and in writing, and have strong reading comprehension and listening skills.

  • Good interpersonal skills are required

  • Strong work ethic.

  • Punctual and reliable

  • Strong multi-tasking, problem solving and time management skills.

  • A self-starter who can identify, prioritize and accomplish multiple tasks.

  • Able to work within an empowered team environment.

  • Able to work well with others, including other departments across the site.

  • Have a high regard for personal safety and the safety of others.

  • Able to work overtime as needed.

  • Must be able to hear and see alarms and visually inspect equipment.


  • Double-time pay for 7th day worked within pay week (M-Sun).
