Chassix Maintenance Technician in Howell, Michigan

General Summary: Qualified individuals must possess Mechanical aptitude, be self motivated, have the ability to diagnose/troubleshoot and repair mechanical problems in a production Casting and Machining environment. Candidate will also be expected to perform preventive/predictive maintenance and conform to all OSHA standards. A viable candidate with be required to provide their own hand tools.   • Diagnose and repair various equipment

  • Fabricate equipment

  • Rebuild tools

  • Read and interpret test equipment

  • Calipers

  • Work with production to correct quality problems as well as continuous improvement projects

  • Required to follow any other instructions and to perform any other duties upon request of the supervisor

  • Complies with the following OSHA Safety Standards: Hazard Communication; Bloodborne Pathogens; Lockout; Permit Required Confined Space; Hot Work Permit; Powered Industrial Trucks; P.P.E. and Ergonomics

  • When necessary, participate in classes and training seminars to learn new technologies and techniques deemed helpful to performance on the job


Works in a seasonally fast paced environment under minimum supervision. Routine responsibilities and duties involve the use of various procedures and the application of clearly prescribed standards of practice, requiring the use of good judgment. Must work with a high degree of accuracy.


Diagnose and repair various equipment

Diagnose and repair various equipment such as production melting, die casters, trim presses, x-rays, heat-treat ovens, conveyance systems, CNC

machines, rotary dials, transfer lines, hydraulic and pneumatic systems

Fabricate equipment

Fabrication of equipment including drill presses,

metal breaks, plasma/acetylene torch, arc welders (vert./horz.), and mig welders.

Rebuild Tools

Rebuild gearboxes, spindles, and drill units.

Read and interpret test equipment

Read and interpret test equipment such as micrometers.


Calipers, as well as perform ball bar tests.



  • Lock out tag out

  • Confined space entry

  • High School graduation or equivalent

  • 3-5 years experience

  • The job works in conditions with constant exposure (67% or more) to noise, odors, dust, drafts, chemicals, operating machinery, temperature extremes, hazardous substances, etc. Some overnight travel may be required.
