Job DescriptionThe plant operator is responsible for operating process equipment following standard operating procedures. This includes monitoring process variables, collecting samples, performing analysis, making process adjustments, moving, loading and discharging raw materials; packaging and warehousing product, loading trucks and keeping various process records. Plant operators must follow all safety rules, policies, and procedures to ensure a safe work environment. Responsibilities:bull; Adhere to the Zero Harm/Zero Waste Culturebull; Actively support the Responsible Care efforts for facilitybull; Follows all safety rules policies, procedures, OSHA regulationsbull; Secures and reports unsafe conditionsbull; Attends required safety trainingbull; Start, stop, monitor, and adjust process equipment to ensure safe, quality operation within specified limitsbull; Control or operate chemical processes or systems of machines, using control boards, or semi-automaticequipmentbull; Adjust control settings to make necessary changes on equipment units affecting speeds of chemicalreactions, quality, or yieldsbull; Monitor recording instruments, flowmeters, panel lights, or other indicators and listen for warning signals,to verify conformity of process conditionsbull; Inspect operating units, such as towers, storage tanks, scrubbers, collectors, or driers to ensure that allare functioning and to maintain maximum efficiencybull; Regulate or shut down equipment during emergency situations, as directed by supervisory personnel oras situations arisebull; Draw samples of productsrocess solutions for quality control tests to monitor processing and to ensurethat environmental and quality standards are metbull; Record operating data, such as process conditions, test results, or instrument readingsbull; Packages, labels, warehouses and loads finished goods for shipmentbull; Reads and follows production plans, planning work in conjunction with other team membersbull; Operates forklifts, pallet jacks and other material handling equipmentbull; Performs light maintenance work and aids maintenance employees along with completion of operationsPreventative Maintenance work orders Qualifications:bull; High school diploma or general education degree (GED)bull; Manufacturing experience and 6+ months of plant experience preferredbull; Must have good understanding of mechanical equipmentbull; Must be capable of understanding and using Microsoft Office products and DeltaV system Wage: $16.00/hr Koppers Inc. and its subsidiaries are equal opportunity employers and do not discriminate against any employee orapplicant on the basis of age, color, disability, genetic information, ethnicity, national origin, race, religion, sex, veteranstatus, or any other category or characteristic protected by federal law or by any applicable state or local law.
