Aspirus Health MANAGER- QUALITY in Iron River, Michigan

Aspirus is currently seeking a QUALITY MANAGER to work at Aspirus Iron River Hospital in Iron River, Michigan and Aspirus Ontonagon Hospital in Ontonagon, Michigan. The Quality Manager p rovides leadership, guidance, and resources in the design, implementation, and evaluation of continuous quality improvement activities and patient safety activities. Monitors the quality of documentation and services provided and facilitates recommendations for improvement. Reports to the medical staff, administration, hospital departments and committees as appropriate on defined programs and areas of responsibility. Participates in physician peer review, medical record analysis and performance improvement activities. Participates in system-wide quality initiatives.
This position will require some travel, with an expectation of physically sitting in Iron River 3-4 days a week and Ontonagon 1-2 days a week.
Knowledge of healthcare operations, as well as development and implementation of strategies and standards normally acquired through education and experience in Nursing, Healthcare Administration, Organizational Development, Business Administration, or other health-related profession required
Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing or other health-related field required
Certification in Healthcare Quality (CPHQ) or Patient Safety (CPPS) preferred
Possesses a broad-based knowledge and understanding of Quality/Performance Improvement philosophy and methodology, and application of such in the clinical setting. Maintains familiarity with cost containment and utilization review objectives.
Demonstrates ability to develop outcomes and performance measures
Ability to lead work groups and teams to accomplish designed goals and objectives
Possesses a broad knowledge of medical and nursing patient care as well as medical record management
Possesses interpersonal skills necessary in order to interact efficiently with all levels of hospital personnel, conduct educational programs, and provide advice and counsel regarding Quality program and policies.
Experience in Quality Improvement activities preferred.
Possesses general understanding and knowledge of:
Quality Assessment, Continuous Quality Improvement principles
A general understanding of regulatory agencies specific to hospital operations, i.e., Joint Commission, OSHA, CMS, FDA, CDC, and MHA.
Demonstrates proficiency with use of a PC and utilization of automated hospital information systems and national databases.
Hours: This position is full time; 1.0 FTE or 40 hours per week. Full time benefits package available.
Aspirus Iron River Hospital and Clinics is one of four hospitals in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan in the Aspirus family.
With 300+ employees, Aspirus Iron River Hospital and Clinics serves people through a 25-bed hospital, physician clinics, rehab fitness centers, ambulance service, and home care and hospice. The outpatient part of this practice is located in a stand-alone clinic. This allows the provider to work independently yet have the specialist support and financial security from the entire Aspirus health care system. The critical access hospital has an average daily census of 9-10 patients.
The hospital and clinics provide numerous services and has up to date technology, including a 64 slice CT and a mobile MRI. The medical staff includes family practitioners, internal medicine, general surgeons, orthopedic surgeons, radiologist, emergency medicine physicians, Nurse Practitioners, and Physician Assistants. Visiting medical staff includes ophthalmologist, oncologist, cardiologist, ENT, podiatrist, and nephrologist.
