Saint-Gobain Production Shift Supervisor in Jackson, Michigan
Under the supervision of the Plant Superintendent, the position is accountable for overseeing production and grinding crews in attaining production cost and quality goals while maintaining a safe work environment. The position is accountable for scheduling the appropriate staff, and monitoring progress and results.
Assign workload, monitor subordinates’ progress, and evaluate results
Enter timecards, and verify Kronos punch-ins and outs
Administer CertainTeed policies
Monitor overall production quality, safety, and Key Operating Indicators
Communicate opportunities for improvement related to key metrics (Yield & Uptime)
Provide essential communication between management, and production crew
Ensure adequate equipment and supplies are on hand
Oversee the cleanliness and housekeeping of the production area
Manage Regrind operations
Oversee training for new employees, coach, develop, and provide feedback on employee progress
Oversee end of shift reports
Prepare incident/accident reports as needed, and conduct necessary follow-ups
Problem solve production issues and identify solutions using Root Cause Analysis
Provide continuous process and production improvement recommendations
This position requires that the position be able to move heavy objects safely, not to exceed 50 pounds, without requiring assistance such as a dolly, forklift, or team member assistance.
There are also frequent and prolonged periods of standing/walking and pushing /pulling or moving/lifting supplies. This position experiences frequent/occasional reaching, stooping, bending, kneeling, crouching, repetitive motion and gripping.
This position is located within a vinyl siding manufacturing facility and requires the position can work in an environment that can be noisy and dusty. The ability to work 12-hour+ shifts, withstand heat and chemical odors is also required.
Must comply with all safety requirements including use of the personal protection equipment required for this position.
