CMS Energy is publicly traded on the NYSE and is recognized as a member of the S&P 500 and Fortune 1000.The Generation Planning Group provides engineering and technical support to Consumers Energy fossil, hydro, and renewable power generating assets in Michigan's Lower Peninsula. Generation Planning Leads and Specialists function as the technical authority and subject-matter experts (SMEs) for generating plant equipment and work with plant engineering to provide technical direction and consultation, condition assessments and run/repair/replace decisions with the goal of improving Safety, Quality and Equipment and Plant Reliability. Generation Planning is also the interface with the industry in terms of best practices, through EPRI, IEEE, ASME, and various other codes, standards, and technical and research groups.The Rotating Equipment Specialist is considered a combustion turbine subject matter expert (SME) that supports all combustion turbine equipment and technical needs at Consumers Energy plants across the state of Michigan. They will support technical aspects of all primary and auxiliary equipment related to combustion turbines in Consumers Energy's Fleet.This position will be filled through the Engineering job family, commensurate with the successful candidate's skillset, education and experience level. Candidates must possess a working knowledge of relevant turbine industry codes, standards and best practices.Job Description/ResponsibilitiesThe Rotating Equipment Specialist is responsible for technical support of all gas turbine assets in the Consumers Energy generating fleet. Combustion Turbine Generators used for peaking range from 20 MW to 300 MW (Peaker fleet is mostly GE Frame 5's and Pratt & Whitney GG4's).There are two large combustion turbine plants one with two simple-cycle GE Frame 7F's and a 2-on-1 combined cycle with a GE D11 steam turbine. (Zeeland, MI) The other plant has a unique 7X2 configuration.The 7X2 represents seven combustion turbines and two steam turbines.Six of the combustion turbines are General Electric LM6000 engines at 45 MW each, with each tied to a header that feeds a HRSG; an additional 95 MW can be produced by one or both of the steam turbines.The seventh combustion turbine is a GE 7EA with a HRSG and duct burners.The 7EA and its HRSG and steam turbine combination can deliver up to 110 MW.TasksThe work environment will be partially in office-type settings, and partially in the field with gas and combustion turbine components. Travel to various generating assets around the state will be required and encouraged.
