Important information about these jobs:

Location: Peckham Inc., Airport Warehouse

Hours: 7:30 p.m. to 6:00 a.m., Monday through Thursday

Pay: These positions include a shift premium, with total pay for third shift being $10.25-$13.50

  • SUMMARY

Ensure that the correct material is cut or spread, depending on assigned area. Follow the paperwork given and ensure that fabric rolls are of the same or matching shade. Operate the machines by following training guidelines.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:

  • Must be a team player and maintain excellent attendance to hold this position.
  • Have an excellent understanding of the cutting and/or spreading process.
  • Should be able to troubleshoot the problems during the cutting and/or spreading process.
  • Willing to help others.
  • Work together with all members of the table to achieve production and quality standards.

For Cutting positions:

  • Set the machine as per requirements of the fabric and machine.
  • Verify the correct marker has been loaded onto the Gerber before the cut is started.
  • Must have a complete understanding of the Gerber Cutter and be able to make adjustments when required.

For Spreading positions:

  • Count the ply of the spread and correct any variance
  • Ensure that all rolls of fabric used are of the same or matching shade
  • Count the fabric put for the cut against yards on the fabric rolls. If any shortage noticed, then document and report it to the supervisor.
  • Help look for defects in the fabric.
  • Help with placing the fabric rolls back in the bin, help move the completed spread forward to the cutting table. For Bundle positions:
  • Tie each bundle in a manner which is neat and acceptable for delivery to the production floor.
  • Apply proper shade labels to each garment by the authorized method.
  • Remove all cut parts from the cutting table to the bundling table for quality inspection.
  • Utilize a team work approach for all projects
  • Must be able to work at consistent speeds

For Material Handler positions:

  • Delivers bins of fabric to the spreading team based on their needs.
  • Conducts Cycle Counts of the On Hand Inventory in the Warehouse.
  • Update the cut log with the available material on hand.
  • Monitor and ensure that the Cut Part wall is full and maintain an inventory.
  • Practice FIFO (first in first out) to ensure that the floor is provided with bins of material and cut parts in the correct order.
  • Provide excellent customer service while addressing concerns related to the delivery of bins to the spread team.
  • Must have, or be able to obtain a valid lift operator permit from Peckham.
  • Work together with all members of the table to achieve production and quality standards.
  • Assist with training and leading other team members.
  • Must demonstrate basic computer skills and good organizational skills.
  • Maintain a safe and healthy work area and report any safety concerns to supervisor.
  • Must be able to regularly lift or move up to 40lbs.
  • Must be able to lift or move up to 75lbs.
  • Maintain safe and clean working environment.
  • Maintain warehouse equipment by following manufacturer’s standards of use and cleaning.
  • Addresses production needs in a calm and timely manner.
  • Other duties assigned by supervisor.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

This job requires minimal education and one to three months related experience and/or training.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read limited number of two or three syllable words and to recognize similarities and differences between words and between series of numbers. Ability to print and communicate effectively to others.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10’s and 100’s. Ability to perform these operations in using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
