Triumph Gear Systems – (Macomb, MI) employs approximately 300 personnel. The division's key products and services include manufacturing, test and assembly of complete transmission and gearbox assemblies as well as complex gears and housings. Our design engineering group can specify and design any gear application, from simple build-to-print to collaboratively engineered, highly specialized applications.

The Manufacturing Offload Manager is a vital and key component in support of Triumph Gear Systems growth by expanding internal manufacturing capacity thru strategic outsourcing of processes and services. The selected individual will lead a cross-functional team (Engineering, Quality, Finance, Program Management, Contracts, etc.), and will execute procurements and subcontracts with multiple complexity and size suppliers. Additionally, the individual will be responsible for reporting, managing, expediting and will be accountable to ensure the supplier(s) adhere to schedule and technical performance requirements. The individual will need to strategically look ahead (6-12 months) and forecast current process capacity constraints and plan appropriate offload opportunities to mitigate manufacturing impacts, work and resolve supplier and engineering issues, and implement proactive strategies to assure timely and compliant deliveries.

This individual should have working knowledge of mechanical drawings, material and processing specifications. The candidate will be responsible for preparing Request for Quote packages as well as evaluating the supply base for capabilities and the ability to execute our Statements of Work.

  • Full responsibility and management of subcontracting / offload projects to ascertain schedules, costs, quality, and success across multiple platforms.

  • Engages in the evaluation of supplier production capabilities as well as supplier capacity evaluations. Includes periodic constraint and risk evaluation and assessments.

  • Included provisions for identifying restraints and bottlenecks with product flow and offer solutions and recommendations to TGS and suppliers for improvements.

  • Facilitates the flow of materials, products, and in process processing to and from work cells and suppliers / sub-tier suppliers.

  • Ensures verification of materials through processes parts or finished goods are compliant with specifications and standards as required.

  • Ability to work across multiple venues with both internal and external customers and suppliers to ensure on time delivery.

  • Requires comprehensive understanding of overall manufacturing processes and procedures, an ability to interpret specifications and contracts, an understanding of objective evidence as well as possess strong oral and written communication skills for presentations and potential executive level briefings.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Operations Management, or Manufacturing Engineering required – plus a minimum of 5 years related experience or an equivalent combination of education and years of experience.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Demonstrated critical thinking / problem solving abilities

  • Able to multi-task several critical assignments at both time and ability to work both independently and within a team structure

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite of products (Power Point, Word, Excel)

  • Knowledge or Familiarity with AS process and procedures, Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR) and Defense Federal Acquisition Regulations (DFAR) and First Article requirements
