Kelly Services Daily Maintenance Field Planner in Midland, Michigan

Kelly Services is currently seeking an experience Daily Maintenance Field Planner to join a leading team in Midland, MI ! This is a long-term opportunity with a great team and growth opportunities!

The Maintenance Field Planner role requires a person to evaluate a work order scope, create job logic and craft estimates in SAP, and create a job planning package from the information contained in the work order. Efforts will include making a field assessment of the job site conditions, consulting electronic forms for specifications, procedures, and best practices, using Plant equipment libraries, Web EDMS and consulting with customers/subject matter experts to ensure safe, effective and efficient execution of the work.

This role is part of the Maintenance Team in Michigan Operations which supports the Silicones assets.

Specific activities:

  • Develop a detailed, accurate job plan for a work order, including job description; sequence of activities; estimates of crafts and hours; identification of materials and parts; safe work planning; digital camera photos annotated to show the work; sketches; and drawings.

  • Actively seek craft input and feedback on job plans.

  • Use standardized procedures, work processes, and guidelines as per the global work processes.

  • Perform an assessment of the job site conditions as part of the job plan creation.

  • Communicate with other groups that will provide input for the plan and perform the work.

  • Capture critical path logic in SAP which will download to Primavera or other similar tool to show proper job sequencing.

  • Use constructability concepts, specifications, equipment, and tools for the most effective completion of the work.

  • Communicate unique job sequence information to the scheduling group to ensure proper handling in Primavera.

  • Archive plans for retrieval and reuse.

  • Develop, monitor, and communicate planning performance measurements and results through IPS meetings.

  • Communicate and balance workload/capacity with other planners. Leverage across the site to balance workload.

  • Manage Planning backlog in SAP.

  • Monitor work process engagement and effectiveness.

  • Includes participation in Staff On-Call responsibilities

  • This position will include back-up responsibilities for other Work Process roles (e.g. Work Coordinator, Field Rep, Turnaround Coordinator, etc.)

  • Maintenance of work order backlog files, assessment of the work orders in a backlog, and close communication with the maintenance work coordinators and schedulers.

Education/Certification Requirements:

  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience in a maintenance or construction related field is desired.

  • Previous planning experience is preferred, but not required.

  • Experience in and knowledge of maintenance methods and constructability, materials, and technologies.

  • Must also possess or obtain and use significant computer skills, estimating skills, and very importantly, strong communication and interpersonal skills.


  • Manage work order time in Planning Phase to less than 14 days.

  • Work order backlog of less than 25 jobs

  • +90% job plan accuracy for all job elements
