This role is in the Operations QC group and reports directly to the QC Area Manager. The technical specialist is responsible for the quality assurance of the QC Lab operations. The position involves hands-on evaluation of paint testing methods as well as researching and writing test methods and training laboratory techniques.
Keeping current with customer requirements and international test methods
Maintaining gage calibration and standards tracing
Conducting gage measurement analysis
Statistical analysis of test results
Training and certification of laboratory technicians
Maintaining the laboratory scope
Working with product and process chemists requiring new or changing instruments and test methods
Measuring and reporting Key Process Indicators for laboratory performance
Helping with data analysis for investigations and special QC projects
Writing and updating work instructions and test methods
Ordering and maintaining calibration standards and reagents
Calibrating and verifying instrument functions.
Associates or bachelors degree in a scientific field preferably chemistry or engineering
3 years experience in an industrial or laboratory setting
Good communication and interpersonal skills
Willing to work occasional non-standard hours and days
Knowledge of databases and software such as MS Excel, MS Word, SAP, and MiniTab
