The Electronic Systems Segment (ESS) provides a broad range of aerospace systems, security and detection systems, and pilot training.
L3 Combat Propulsion Systems (CPS) located in Muskegon, MI is a recognized market leader in the engineering, design and manufacture of engines, transmissions, suspension and turret drive systems for combat vehicles, including both tracked and wheeled vehicles. It is also a production center for Abrams tank components and supports both domestic and international vehicle customers, including programs for Singapore and South Korea.
The objective of the 2019 Summer Quality Engineering Intern will be to improve transmission quality and performance by implementing improved data collection at production acceptance tests. The data will result in real time monitoring of transmission performance, and provide feedback to drive manufacturing process improvements, including ball match process.
The intern will be required to present a report that will include:
Identify key performance indicators that can be monitored at test.
Determine if current systems can provide data or if additional software or data collection will need to be purchased
Evaluate whether ball match data can be linked to transmission acceptance test data
Define Process and format that will allow the data to be readily available and in usable
Improve data collection of transmission performance through improving data collection at acceptance testing

Intern candidates must have the following skills:
- Actively enrolled in an accredited University or College Mechanical, Manufacturing program
- Prefer someone with hydraulics knowledge
- Software programming knowledge prefer
- Must be a Junior or Senior
- Must be familiar with, and able to utilize all Microsoft Office Applications.
- Good written and verbal communication skills required.
- Desire to learn about Engine and Transmission design, development, manufacturing, and testing.
