Our facilities include Port City Castings Corp., Muskegon Castings Corp., Port City Metal Products, Port City Die Cast, Port City Custom Plastics, Alloy Resource Corp, and Mirror Image Tool.Furnace/Metal SupervisorResponsibilities:•Monitor all PPE's and make sure they are being used•Take metal samples and deliver to Arc•Perform R.A.T.S test on metal samples•Monitor Metal weights and usage - chart•Inventory/order critical parts•Monitor Argon usage - chart•Monitor Nitrogen usage - chart•Monitor furnace temps and alarms - chart•Monitor all dross weights - chart•Exercise supervision over melt employees including scheduling and overseeing all shifts•Maintain a positive work environment by regularly communicating with employees•Monitor/measure that melters are performing to defined expectations and standards while holding people accountable.Audit and make sure all furnace cleanings are done right and everyday!•Take all calls from alarm monitor system for temp control and follow up.•Set priorities for the melt team to ensure task completion•Resolve all conflict in the melt department•Act as a role model•Participate in employment process, interviews, promotions, terminations•Document and handle disciplinary actions•Provide mentoring, coaching, and identify training needs for melters•Provide training to all melting personnel•Assist in the design and implementation of training courses•Maintain well-organized and productive work area with emphasis on metal cleanliness•Work with production scheduling to determine alloys to be melted and metal to be ordered; maintaining adequate inventory levels.•Works with vendors and receives quotes for refractory jobs.•Coordinates furnace repairs with outside contractors•Coordinates all melting department repair activities during plant shutdown•Works under limited supervision, generally given broad objective outlines and left to come up with schedule and plan.•Calibrate and perform minor repairs to the spectrometer.•Input both material charged and flux input daily by furnace into Odyssey•Review air permit data from Odyssey.Please note that the duties and requirements described herein are intended to represent general contents of this job.
