WelderNiles, MI Job Summary for WelderUnder the direction and supervision of the Department Production Supervisor and in cooperation with other team members, weld metal components with welding equipment to fit and join, fabricate, and/or repair heavy and large mechanical products per specifications and in accordance with the production schedule. Responsibilities of WelderulliPerform welding duties using wire welding GMAW (Gas Metal Arc Welding), FCAW (Flux Core Arc Welding), or SMAW (Stick Welding)/liliWeld steel components with welding equipment as specified by procedures, layouts, blueprints, diagrams, work orders, or oral instructions/liliWelds range from simple tasks to complex welds, performed in varying positions/liliWork includes set-up, laying out work using fixtures and guides to repair, modify, or fabricate parts and/or equipment products/liliOperate and/or use related equipment and tools which include forklifts, hoists, slings, grinders (portable bench), cutting torches, hand tools, drills, punches, a tape measure, and Air Arc/liliKeep equipment operational by completing preventive maintenance requirements; follow manufacturers instructions; troubleshooting malfunctions; call for repairs and complete the daily check sheets/liliRead, understand, and follow job order specifications, blueprints, work instructions, and procedures/liliMaintain a level of work performed in accordance with the company’s standards and/or job order specifications/liliParticipate in process and product development and improvement programs, teams, and safety committees/liliPerform or assist in other assigned duties as qualified/liliMaintain a safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations/li/ulQualifications of Welder ulliHigh School Diploma or GED required./liliWelding experience required. AWS Certification is a plus/liliTrailer assembly and/or heavy equipment manufacturing experience preferred/liliRelevant and recent working experience with set-up, jig work, and heavy fabrication preferred/liliVocational or post-secondary education and welding certification(s) desired/liliPerform work standing on concrete a minimum of 8 hours and up to 12 hours per day, and a minimum of 4 days up to 6 days per week/liliWillingness to train or work during hours outside of regularly-scheduled core shift/liliFlexibility to work additional hours beyond and consecutively with core work schedule when needed/liliWillingness to cross-train and perform the work of other job tasks or positions in the Company outside of or in addition to primarily-assigned position, work area, or department/liliRegular and reliable attendance (per handbook policy)/liliPerform work safely in accordance with all safety policies, procedures, and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) requirements/liliPerform work in various physical positions including standing, kneeling, squatting, bending, and reaching (temporary variances may be accommodated based on employee’s primary assignment)/liliPerform work in a heavy industrial setting with exposure to heat, cold, and humidity, industrial odors, fumes, gasses, chemicals, oil, grease, smoke, dust, noise, and vibration, and involves climbing ladders and stairs, using pneumatic tools, working in cramped quarters, and working with moving machinery/liliAbility to wear the Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) required for this position, including hearing protection
