Production Supervisor

Permanent position: Production Supervisor opportunity with a chemical manufacturing client located in the Pontiac, MI area. Managing 3 direct and approximately 20 indirect reports this position will be responsible for the safe and efficient production of this first shift chemical manufacturing process. Local candidates preferred although some relocation will be considered on a case by case basis. This position in bonus eligible and client has excellent benefits.

Responsibilities for the Production Supervisor

  • Work with Shift Supervisors and Process Improvement to implement best practices and implement lean tools to improve production efficiency, reduce costs, and reduce waste

  • Monitor and keep track of daily production technician and team leader performance and coach and train subordinates to improve lagging performance and recognize strong performers

  • Ensure all site safety rules are strictly followed and work with the safety teams to continuously improve the safety of operations

  • Conduct investigations and use the 5Y, 8D and fishbone problem solving techniques

  • Ensure all Facility SOPs, Work Instructions, conduct, HSE, and attendance rules are being followed and issue disciplinary action where needed

  • Perform additional duties as required

Requirements for the Production Supervisor

  • A Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university is required

  • Approximately 7 or more years of previous supervisory experience in a manufacturing production environment is required

  • Must be able to work in a manufacturing & laboratory environment and be capable of wearing an air purifying respirator as needed

  • Demonstrated experience using problem solving techniques such as 5Y, 8D and Fishbone

  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint

  • Strong safety mindset
