The objective of the Student Programs at Nexteer Automotive is to select students with high potential and provide them with "real world" work experiences. Job Requisition Introductory Paragraph:
This position will allow the Student to assist with fast paced root cause investigations, swap studies, design of experiment (DOE) studies, and mathematical/statistical analysis behind the development of a new steering system. The Student will also assist with various tasks to support the project they are working on so it stays on track. The Student will have opportunities to work hand in hand with engineering leadership and will be able to develop their engineering, leadership, and ownership skills. The Student would be asked to complete other miscellaneous tasks as they arise.
Primary Job Responsibilities:
Assist in root cause investigations and swap studies as they arise
Assist and eventually lead DOE studies as needed
Learn engineering analysis tools such as Minitab and engineering calculations and apply them to the development work for the system at hand
Assist supervisor in any administrative work
Help create easy to use spreadsheets used for engineering calculation and program management.
Assist in logistical tasks required for making prototype samples
Assist with 2D drawings and engineering stacks
Candidate must attend a local university and be able to regularly commute to Nexteer’s Saginaw office
Candidate must be able to work remotely effectively
Candidate must be studying towards a Bachelor’s or Master’s in Mechanical Engineering at an accredited university
Candidate must have a valid driver’s license
Candidate must be able to work 20-32 hours during Fall and Winter semesters
Up to 40 in the summer
Must have cumulative 2.7 GPA or higher
Must be a full-time student (12 or more credits) during Fall and Winter semesters
Candidate must have right to work in the US and not require current or future sponsorship
Candidate has a 3.2 GPA or higher
Candidate has completed or is currently taking courses in CAD, Dynamics, Statics, Mechanics of Solids, Materials, and Physics as part of their degree
