Nexteer Automotive Plant Quality Supervisor (2018) in Saginaw, Michigan

Nexteer Automotive is looking for an energetic individual who has a passion for quality and a drive to succeed. As a Plant Quality Supervisor, the ideal candidate will have 3 or more years of experience in Quality Assurance and 3 or more years of experience with managing a team.

To be successful in this position, the candidate will be comfortable interacting with all internal departments and will continuously drive change in a fast-paced environment. The ideal candidate should have a solid understanding of ISO9001, IATF16949, and lean manufacturing processes.

MAJOR JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Supervision of Quality team including engineers and staff.

  • Lead and provide daily direction to quality team in the plant.

  • Liaison between the Customer and Nexteer Mfg.

  • Lead efforts to ensure overall quality system effectiveness and identify opportunities for improvement.

  • Lead the implementation of Fast Response process by working with the plant teams and other functions to ensure a coordinated approach.

  • Coach teams to make decisions that promote continuous improvement and enhance our quality culture.

  • Support the day-to-day operating systems that drive competitive quality performance and warranty improvements.

  • Monitor error proofing, gauging, and testing devices for product conformance.

  • Support Flawless Launch initiatives.

  • Engage with all functions driving quality focus (Product Eng. / (Operations, Maintenance, Engineering, Supplier Quality, Purchasing, etc.) for efficiency and effectiveness.

  • Ensure WFCC and N2N updates effectively resolved in a timely manner.

  • Assure compliance to IATF and ISO 9001 Standards within responsible areas.

  • 5% travel with the possibility of some international travel.

QUALIFICATIONS:

DEGREE: BACHELORS (Preferred)

  • 3+ years of quality, manufacturing, or engineering experience.

  • 3+ years of supervisory experience.

  • Elevated level of oral (including presentation) and written communication skills.

  • Experience in applying statistical analysis methods such as SPC, sampling plans and design of experiments is preferred.

  • Relatively elevated level of analytical ability where problems are complex. (Green Belt / Fast X Certification)

  • Working knowledge of current TS16949 or IATF 16949 Quality System and ISO14001 requirements.

  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes.

  • Ability to use basic mechanical measurement equipment, including but not limited to calipers, micrometers, go/no go gages, and optical comparators.

  • Proficient in MS Word and MS Excel.

  • Ability to read engineering drawings and specifications, including geometric dimensioning and tolerancing.
