Section Manager - Prototype Shop (Band D)•Requisition Number:1032•Position Type:Full-Time Regular•Relocation Provided:No•Department:Prototype Shop Mgmt- Indirect - L9848 (Indirect)•Location:Sterling Heights Complex (LSHC)•Education Required:Bachelors Degree•Experience Required:More than 10 yearsPosition Description:* Fill role of Section Manager in the Vehicle Assembly (Hi -Bay) area within the Prototype Shop organization. * This position reports to the Manager of the Prototype Shop and Material Control Organization. * Individual will be responsible for all vehicle assembly development efforts, for both new product and existing product improvements, to ensure build plan(s) are executed within schedule and budget. * Direct management and bargaining unit employees on wood shop efforts. * Direct management and bargaining unit employees on paint booth efforts. * Direct management and bargaining unit employees on hose fabrication efforts. * Manage unique aspects of providing driver/mechanic BU employees for test site activity. * Provide leadership, coaching and direction for personnel to ensure customers' needs are met. * Conduct daily status meetings and cross-shift meetings as necessary. * Ensure personnel are trained/certified to perform operations prior to job assignments. * Create, maintain, foster and focus on continuous improvement and lean strategies, reduce cycle times, floor inventory, reduce costs and improve employee participation and satisfaction. * Facilitate the development of team members as a WSBM Team Advisor. * Perform hands on scheduling of tasks (i.e., either leading or supporting assembly, or interface with Engineering to eliminate any issues). * Provide input on quotations/bids for new work. * Compile tracking of jobs within area and be able to present the status to upper management. * Will be required to utilize various engineering systems and maintain compliance with department processes and procedures including ISO and IPS standards.Position Requirements:* Minimum of 10 years related experience with Bachelor's Degree in Engineering discipline preferred. Minimum of 7 years' experience will be considered with Masters Degree obtained. Significant additional related experience may be considered in lieu of educational requirements. * Working knowledge of MS Office Suite, project management skills, lean methodology, and continuous improvement skills. * Knowledge of Production Control. * Familiarity with the Bargaining Unit environment. * Ability to work overtime and 2nd shift as needed. * Must be a US person. * Must have valid driver's license.* Have a good working knowledge of welding.* Exceptional skills in communication, problem solving, decision-making, prioritizing work, organizing, and computer skills and getting the necessary information from relevant sources are required.
