Munson Medical Center Environmental Services Tech & Grounds in Traverse City, Michigan


  • High School Graduate preferred or GED equivalent.

  • Speak, read, and write English (as demonstrated by completion of application and job interview).

  • Ability to read and understand written instructions such as labels and work assignments.

  • Housekeeping and grounds keeping experience preferred

  • Snow plowing/removal experience required

  • Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing.

  • Ability demonstrated in floor finishing and carpet cleaning.

  • References required.

  • Must pass drug and TB screening test.

  • Ability to work above ten feet using a high-lift.

  • Must be insurable by Munson Insurance Carrier.

  • May not have any of the following on their driving record within the previous five years:

  • Operating Under the Influence of Alcohol

  • Operating Under the Influence of Drugs

  • Operating While Impaired

  • Operating with an Unlawful Blood Alcohol Level

  • Refusing a Chemical Test

  • Committing a Felony Using a Motor Vehicle

  • Manslaughter or negligent Homicide

  • Leaving the Scene of an Accident

  • Fleeing or Eluding a Police Officer

  • Reckless Driving


Reports to NMSA Distribution Center Manager


  • Exercises tact and pleasantness when dealing with personnel, management, off-site members.

  • Activities controlled by established procedures and if changes are necessary, it is by instruction of immediate Supervisor. Must recall and apply learned procedures as situations occur. Must adjust to varying conditions in work situations and apply established procedures.

  • Standing and walking much of the day. Requires bending, stretching, climbing ladders, lifting, pulling and pushing. Hands in solutions frequently. Subject to interruptions as situations warrant.

  • Use of automatic and manual cleaning equipment.

  • Must wear approved uniform. Must follow all manufacturers' instructions on chemical dilution and usage of products. Must wear protective equipment relative to product handling.

  • Gloves, goggles, face shield, gown, mask, and hardhat must be worn as situation warrants and defined in the Safety Standard Act. Must follow all department, and regulatory agency guidelines. Wear PPE (personal protective equipment) as required.

  • Clean windows, walls, doors, furniture, equipment, sinks, toilets, etc., in restrooms, offices, and public areas.

  • Vacuum carpets, dust and damp mop floors.

  • Wipe down or vacuums warehouse shelving.

  • Empty wastebaskets and recycle boxes as scheduled.

  • Remove trash and transports to trash compactor/dumpster. Operate compactor.

  • All Environmental Services duties as required according to specific procedures.

  • Operate battery-powered floor cleaning machines. Must demonstrate physical strength, coordination, and competency necessary to operate, make adjustments, and changes to equipment.

  • Operate high-lift machine.

  • Scrub/strip hard and resilient floors.

  • Seal/finish hard and resilient floors.

  • Shampoos/extracts carpets as directed.

  • Must be able to work weekends and overtime as needed.

  • May not accumulate more than four active points on their driving record after having been hired.

  • Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned.


Operate mowing, trimming, leaf-blowing and other associated lawn care equipment to maintain lawn and other outdoor areas as needed around the NMSA facility.

Operate either snow removal equipment such as snow throwers, shovels, ice scrapers, etc. to keep sidewalks clear of ice and snow. Also includes the application of ice melting material as needed to reduce or eliminate slip hazards.

Operate a pickup truck equipped with a snowplow to clear parking lots and truck dock areas. Requires the availability to work overtime as needed and being on call during unscheduled workdays such as Saturdays when the NMSA facility is open to ship product to the hospitals.

Monitor and maintain facility grounds as necessary to keep up neat and clean appearance.

Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
