State of Michigan MDOT Transportation Maintenance Worker 6-E8 - Winter Maintenance - Engadine and St. Ignace Garages in Various, Michigan
FILLING SEVERAL LIMITED-TERM POSITIONS THROUGHOUT MACKINAC COUNTY. THESE ARE WINTER MAINTENANCE POSITIONS THAT MAY LAST FROM OCTOBER TO APRIL, BUT WITH NO GUARANTEE.

Maintenance of state trunk lines, structures, and right-of-ways in the Superior Region. Employee, while participating in a Transportation Maintenance Worker (TMW) work element program, performs a range of equipment operations and maintenance activities either under close supervision in a learning capacity (TMW6), under general supervision in a developing capacity (TMW7), or uses judgment in making decisions where alternatives are determined by established policies and procedures (TMWE8). The major equipment used is listed in the duties 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5 of box 15. Employee is required to travel to work sites throughout the Region, and on occasion throughout the state, may require overnight travel and overtime.
MDOT-Jobs Required Education and Experience
Education typically acquired through completion of high school.
Transportation Maintenance Worker 6
No specific type or amount of experience is required.
Transportation Maintenance Worker 7
One year of experience equivalent to a Transportation Maintenance Worker 6 or Laborer E6 with experience in roadway, roadside, bridge, or sign maintenance, or pavement marking with the required MDOT work elements..
Transportation Maintenance Worker E8
Two years of experience equivalent to a Transportation Maintenance Worker, including one year equivalent to a Transportation Maintenance Worker 7; or, one year of skilled trades experience at the E9 level with required work elements.
Additional Requirements and Information
Satisfactory completion of the Department of Transportation Maintenance Work Element Training and Certification program required for the specific level.
Some positions may also be assigned duties that require the application of pesticides that may require certification or registration as a pesticide applicator in compliance with the Pesticide Control Act of 1976.
Possession of a Commercial Driver's License (CDL).
