Exotic Automation & Supply is a Northwest Detroit Industrial Supplier and Manufacturer.

Services Include:

  • Automation and Controls: Design, manufacture and supply hydraulic and pneumatic equipment and components.

  • Hose and Fittings: Distribute hydraulic, pneumatic, industrial hose and fittings.

  • Custom Manufacturing: Design and fabricate custom molded urethane, rubber and machined plastic components.

  • Gasketing: Provide standard gaskets and manufacture custom die cut and spiral wound gaskets.

  • Industrial Materials: Distribute a wide variety of plastic, rubber, packaging, tools, anti-fatigue matting and relating products.

  • Supply Chain Management: Commodity management, kits, bin fill programs and mobile service and repair.

Exotic Automation and Supply is currently looking for an Engineering Coordinator to join the team in a full-time capacity at our New Hudson, MI location.

Responsibility summary includes, but not limited to: Knowledge of Exotic product lines, handling customer inquiries, monitoring project status, quotations, order entry, order follow-up and system functions related to Engineering projects.

This position is vital to the Engineering department and will impact the overall productivity of the group. Essential Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for thorough knowledge of Exotic?s complete product offering.

  • Complete understanding of all policies and procedures within the department and corporation.

  • Understanding of the various types of Engineering projects and timely completion of assigned tasks.

  • Perform project execution analysis and tracking of updates by preparing and maintaining project status matrix.

  • Compiling and maintaining department measurables.

  • Implement all sales-related procedures including sourcing, follow-up, return goods, etc.

  • Knowledge of core vendor base and pricing structure.

  • Responsible for all aspects of processing an order: order entry, bill of material (BOM) entry, job order entry, engineering change orders (ECO), and job close-out.

  • Engineering open-order report resolution and order expediting.

  • Understand product nomenclature; entry of Engineering part numbers, general product knowledge.

  • Quotation interface with sales associates (internal customers) and customers (external).

  • Accounting interfacing as it applies to contract review (payment terms, invoice discrepancies, etc.).

  • Organize and maintain a file system, ensuring all job folders and related Engineering documentation are closed-out properly per the quality system guidelines.

  • Knowledge and ability to procure needed products/services to fill customer requirements; perform all aspects of the ?ship direct? process when applicable; to ?link? purchase orders to booked sales orders; to reconcile APPO issues resulting from purchase orders created; perform all aspects of the returned goods procedure; and perform expedite functions as necessary to satisfy customer requirements.

  • Support for field applications, system designs and customer product developments/enhancements.

  • Occasionally may make customer visits to support field sales.

  • Identify key competitors/competitive products and provide feedback to engineering and field sales.

  • Assist with sales staff training at all levels for product expertise.

  • Provides and supports a positive work environment.

  • Responsible for profitability of company and attaining goals and objectives set forth by the Board of Directors.

  • Participates in corporate on-boarding and orientation programs.

  • Performs other duties as assigned or requested.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:

  • High-school diploma. Associates degree in Business or related technical field is a plus.

  • Three to five (3-5) years operational support experience.

  • Advanced PC skills, Microsoft office suite.

  • Ability to work independently and multi-task efficiently.

  • Excellent customer service attributes

  • Ability to work flexible work schedule depending on demands in the department.

  • Organizational skills required to prioritize, plan and coordinate work activities and resources in area of responsibility.

  • Interpersonal skills necessary to effectively communicate with associates, customers, business partners and management team.

  • Demonstrated teamwork approach with superiors, peers and subordinates utilizing skills in oral communication, active listening, written and oral directions and cooperating with and assisting others when needed.
