These teams share a passion for quality and hold safety as a number one priority.As a Technical Machine Operator, you'll be responsible for operating and maintaining a variety of complex equipment or specific automated machines and tools, depending on department processes. You will produce a high quality product delivered in a timely manner to satisfy customers. You'll solve problems with the assistance of other team members and seek continuous improvement. All of your activities will be completed with a high regard for the safety of others and yourself. You may also serve as an area trainer on specific equipment and/or processes and assist in the development of departmental and functional guidelines.What You\'ll DoYou'll have opportunities to speak up, solve problems, lead others, and be an owner every day as you... * Calculate and derive dimensional information from all types of dimensional drawings. * Commit to meeting overtime requirements. * Complete required paperwork correctly to ensure record accuracy. * Conduct activities to set up, load, operate, diagnose, debug, and troubleshoot manufacturing equipment. * Consistently perform to and assist in developing Standard Work Instructions at each process and request changes when needed. * Consistently perform, know, and understand SPC/Quality checks by utilizing measuring tools and devices and reacting to specification data. * Demonstrate flexibility to meet team, department, and plant goals. * Know and practice quality requirements according to specified quality criteria. * Know, practice, teach, and assist in developing corporate, plant, and department safety guidelines. You will also maintain a clean, safe working environment according to 5S principles. * Lead and participate in Herman Miller Performance System (HMPS) improvement activities within your current department or other departments. * Perform 100 percent of the machinery jobs in the department at the required rate (cycle time), depending on assignment. * Perform additional responsibilities as requested to achieve business objectives. * Perform multiple activities using various processes and equipment, routinely or when called upon, according to department needs. * Read, understand, and interpret routings, drawings, and Bills of Material (BOMs) so that parts are produced to quality expectations. * Rotate through department work stations based on business need. * Train others and assist in developing training tools as needed.Sound Like You?You might be just who we re looking for if you have... * A high school diploma or equivalent (GED), or work experience which demonstrates performance competency. * A minimum of one year of experience with operating machinery in a manufacturing environment. * A competency in basic math skills, such as adding and subtracting. Additional math skills may be required depending on department processes such as GDT (geometric dimensional tolerances). * The ability to use required measuring tools and devices such as calipers, gauges, tape measures, etc. * The ability to develop, perform, and teach preventative and proactive technical maintenance. * The ability to read, understand, communicate, and interpret written and verbal instructions, work documentation, policies, practices, etc., in the English language. * The ability to bend, twist, and stand for periods up to 10-12 hours. * The ability to lift up to 50 pounds. * The ability to teach and read drawings.
